Swimming!

We had lots of fun swimming tonight.  It was evident in Braiden's face that the lack of limitations in the pool was a relief.  He did so good.  Put a life jacket on him and away he went free as can be.  He told me "Mom, you're the best mom ever."  :o)

Frustrated!

Getting a custom wheelchair is proving to be a pain the arse!  The insurance company needs a prescription for the wheelchair or they won't even consider covering it.  So, the wheelchair company faxes the Orthopedic Specialist to get an Rx...............his office then calls the wheelchair company almost a week later and says "We don't do this, we sent it to Braiden's primary pediatrician."   WHAT!? You are a flippin' Orthopedic Specialist...you put people in wheelchairs on a daily basis for the love of God!  And, it took you and your staff almost a freakin' week to figure this shit out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I just want my kid to have a wheelchair the is appropriate for him...you know, with arm and leg rests that are made for a kid NOT AN ADULT!

Getting better

Braiden is getting better at staying off his hip.  Less "If you want your hip to get better...." lectures today  :o)  He's only heard that lecture about a zillion times since he's been home from the hospital...I think it might actually be sinking in.  Doing some rearranging today and tomorrow to make it easier for him to move around the house in his wheelchair.

Shadow, the caretaker

I totally love that our cat, Shadow, has been "taking care" of Braiden since we came home from the hospital.  Shadow has been sleeping with Braiden, naps and all, since we've been home. Shadow usually sleeps in my bed.  Shadow loves his boys  :o)

Sleep...or lack of

Not sleeping too well, the brain will not stop racing........
I slept like a rock the night we came home from the hospital, I was so exhausted.  But since then.....not so much...ugh

Picnic for Braiden

Today the neighbor girls had a little picnic in our front yard for Braiden.  They were so helpful and considerate.  It was very sweet.

Custom Wheelchair

We have a custom wheelchair coming for Braiden in about 2 weeks!  As difficult as it is to see him in a wheelchair I am still excited.  It will be red, closer to the ground, arm & leg rests that will actually do some good and smaller wheels with better traction so he can easily go through the grass, dirt and gravel!  He has already started doing tricks with the rental wheelchair!  He has figured out how to get it to spin around pretty fast.  Watch out world Braiden is getting his own Hot Rod!

Reformatting

I decided to reformat a bit.  I am working on "The Story" page.  I will also be posting the X-ray(s) when I get a copy.
